Pacific Cardiothoracic Surgery Group is an industry leader by employing a the newest and proven surgical procedures. One such procedure permits bypass surgery without stopping the patient's heart during the actual operation.
Often called Beating Heart Surgery, or "Off-Pump Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting," this surgery is quite beneficial to the patient. It allows the heart patient to spend less time in the operating room, less overall hospital stay, and usually results in a shorter recuperation period after the surgery.
Developed in 1997, this advanced procedure is relatively new, but to date, Dr. Yokoyama has performed over 1000 beating heart surgeries with outstanding results. Again, experience does make the difference, and the PCSG surgical team is proud to be one of the first medical groups in the greater Los Angeles area to adopt this new surgical technology.
